About True ReflectionWhen Life Changes Your Direction, Listen
True Reflection Mobile Detailing was started by Derrek Davis and James Hilman in early 2026.
The idea first started with James, who created a mobile detailing business plan as part of a school project. Not long after, Derrek was laid off from his long-time corporate job and began looking for a new direction. When he came across a Collins bus for sale, everything clicked. It became the opportunity for us to bring James’s idea to life and build something of our own.
The business also drew on experience Derrek already had. In his younger years, he managed the new-car detail department for BMW of Murray, where he developed old-school detailing skills and a strong appreciation for quality work and luxury vehicles. James brought newer technology, modern styles, and up-to-date product knowledge that complemented that experience well.
Most importantly, we both share a genuine passion for cars and take pride in bringing each vehicle as close to showroom ready as possible. That shared passion, along with a commitment to treating customers and their vehicles with real care, helped shape the kind of business we wanted to build from the beginning.
The name True Reflection came from that mindset. To us, it means the way a business should be run, with honesty, respect, and pride in the work. From the way we speak to our customers, to the way we care for their vehicles and the belongings inside them, everything we do is meant to be a true reflection of who we are. And when the job is done, we want that same true reflection to show in the finish of the paint.
With help from friends and family, we converted the bus, built out the setup, and turned the idea into reality. Today, True Reflection is a family-run mobile detailing business built on experience, craftsmanship, and a genuine commitment to helping every vehicle look its best.
About Our Detail Rig
About The Bus Conversion
Our detail rig started life as a 2007 Chevy Collins 14-passenger bus. Today, it’s our big, purpose-built mobile detailing bus—converted from the inside out to be a true rolling detail shop.
We stripped the interior, welded new framework, and rebuilt the layout around the way we actually work. All of our core utilities—water, air, power, and vacuum—are routed through a single original drop-down window on the side of the bus, so when we pull up, everything we need comes out of one clean, organized access point.
We traded work for a Peterbilt air-ride seat that now serves as the passenger seat, moved the original lighting and air controls from a separate panel and embedded them into the dash, and recycled as much of the bus as we could so it still carries most of its original parts and character. We even built a new driver’s armrest and wrapped it in seat material we salvaged from the original interior.
Under the skin, it’s fully outfitted for serious work: a large air compressor, a 100-gallon spotless water tank, a powerful generator, mini fridge, high-end pressure washer, pump, a huge shop vac, dedicated storage for tools, and a storage cabinet for all of our detailing products. Everything has its place, which helps us stay organized and work efficiently on-site.
It’s not just a cool bus—it’s a real, carefully thought-out detail rig built to deliver consistent, professional results wherever we go.
